Anyway, we've gotten a good start to our summer around here. We are very into superhero movies lately, and that has inspired some sidewalk chalk drawings by our 6th-born ;D Here's The Hulk:
And this would be Captain America:
Meet Thor ;D
And I can't for the life of me get the cursor to go in between the two pictures above, so the bottom shot is "stuck" to the shot above.....that's Iron Man!
We've been enjoying a really nice little farm stand just up the road from our house.....no more grocery store produce for us! Beautiful red tomatoes for 50 cents a piece is hard to beat......at least until Emily's garden starts producing!
And another picture stuck together :/ You'd think after 4+ years of blogging, I'd have it all figured out......oh well!
Anyway, the fruit is all from Costco and, several smoothies and handfuls later, was gone in the blink of an eye ;D We're really loving the fresh stuff, and I find myself buying less and less "junk" at the store all the time. Guess that's a good thing, even if it was pretty unintentional!
Ruby has found a new favorite place....
oh for cryin' out loud- those pictures are stuck together too! Almost makes me want to start over with this whole post, but I'm not going to....no time!
Anyway, back to Ruby :D We moved her cage out to our deck, under the shade of a big umbrella, and we let her spend most of the day out of her cage and on the deck. She's loving the freedom! We hope to build some sort of big attachment for her hutch at some point, but this works for now.
The next picture is Noah trying out his new typing program. We decided, after spending the last 5 months in online school and not being able to type, that it was time to learn! He's doing great, but most importantly, he's having lots of fun with it and keeps asking to "play" it ;D
In other news, after years and years of debating about whether or not to go back to school and get his master's degree, my husband has finally decided it's time! I'm so excited, and I've been trying for so long to get him to do it, but he just never felt as strongly about it until now. Losing his job last September so unexpectedly gave him a whole new perspective. We now realize how important it is for us to keep moving forward as we just don't know what the future will bring. The best part about the whole thing is that the cost will be completely covered by his company and the school that he is applying to (because he is a veteran)!
Sooooo, since the plan is to start classes in July, I am frantically trying to get some projects finished up before the two years of chaos begins!!! That includes painting all of our stained cabinets and fencing in our backyard! Not much....... ;D So in an effort to get started on said projects, I put the girls to work this weekend!
Job 1: Changing the butler's pantry from this ugly stain to an olive green paint!
We started the project on Saturday, and with everyone pitching in....
We were able to complete it by Sunday night! One down, and pictures to follow soon in another post! The next project will be the kitchen cabinets, followed by the master bath cabinets! The girls and I will probably do most of the cabinets so that Zack can get started on the fence. We're happy to have the pool to occupy the boys while we work....
Emily likes to play lifeguard for us...... she's good at keeping them in line ;D
And since the girls are still jobless, they don't have much else going on!
And that's probably a good thing because, in addition to all our projects, we have some big trips planned plus a slew of activities over the next couple of months.
Jacob started British soccer camp this morning, and that lasts the rest of this week. Next week, the little boys will attend VBS, and the following week they get to go to an art camp at the same church they're going to for VBS. Noah is taking taekwondo classes over the summer; 2 nights per week. Josh is taking tennis lessons for the month of June as well!
This weekend, we are heading out on the first of several family camping trips of the summer! We're sticking closer to home this weekend, but we have a trip to Destin, Florida, planned for the end of the July.......camping RIGHT on the beach!!! We have a second camping excursion planned in June as well, and I am trying to squeeze in a trip to explore Savannah before school starts again :D
Speaking of school, all my kiddos are done with the exception of Sophie. She is finishing up finals this week. We are changing things up a bit again next year, still sticking with the homeschool, but with a slight twist ;D I will post about that soon as well!
That's all for now- sorry for the messy post!

Love the way the whole family is pitching in!
Love the pool too! Very sweet setup you guys have.
We are headed to Destin in July as well. Not camping though. ;)
Have a great rest of the week!
I can't wait to see the completion of the kitchen cabinets. I want to paint mine white, but am a little scared. I love when jobs are done and off the list. Such an accomplishment!
