Show us your life.....living rooms!

I decided, at the last minute, to link up with Kelly's Korner today when I saw she was doing the Show us your life series again!  As most of you know, we recently moved from Kansas to Georgia, and I have spent the last 5 months decorating a new house.  So, at the risk of boring my regular readers, I'm going to do yet another post with house pictures!

This new living room is much smaller than the one in our last house, but we prefer to use the term cozy :D

We can comfortably seat about 6 people in here, and in combination with the basement theater area and the hearth room, it really does give everyone enough space to find a comfy spot to relax!  Of course, when you have 10 people in your family, space is a prime commodity ;D

We did get a new set of furniture for this room.  I knew I wanted leather to stand up to the abuse of 5 boys, so that was the easy part.  Finding the right style was a bit more challenging as I really wanted something with a high back and without those big puffy cushions that always have to be straightened and fluffed!

Probably my favorite part of the whole room is the ceiling....

The windows were a challenge.  I wanted to ditch the blinds and add plantation shutters, but after pricing them out and realizing I could put one of my kids through college for less, I decided to simply do my best to cover up the ugly blinds while keeping some of the view!

The built-in shelves were a great perk, but they are stark white and desperately need new paint.  I plan to paint them to match the trim color- not sure what the builder was thinking!

I hated the fireplace at first, but now that the room is all decorated, I've decided it's not so bad and I won't rip it out and put stone in it's place after all ;D

The back wall was a challenge in this room as well.  It's a huge wall, and I knew I didn't want to try to do some sort of picture arrangement, but it needed something that would fill it up.  So, after adding this table.....

I hung a large clock, and then added one of my MOST favorite quotes on either side!

Perfect!  Here's the view of the living room from the kitchen area looking towards the front entryway....

Thanks for stopping by!!

I love your decorating style! I've been a follower for a few months and had so much fun "touring" your new house. Everything looks just perfect :)

I am loving this close up look.

I've been scouring the stores, since you gave me some hints via email, several weeks ago. My main bath has had a face lift by adding some new things, and getting rid of others. What a difference! ...and I feel so excited!

I am gradually changing my family room and have my hearth and mantle done--first thing I bought was a big clock!! I have loved yours, even from the other house.

I've had fun at World Market place, as well as Ross, which has household stuff at the back of the store. It changes almost daily, so I try to stop in once a week or so to see if something grabs my eye.

Your home is just "yummy" and so inviting.

Thank you for sharing it with us. I love your blog!!

Beautiful, Try putting wallpaper or even painting with color on the back wall of your book shelves, just to add a pop of color. Love Love Love your ceiling.

I have been following you since you began your move and I love your taste. Where did you end up finding your leather furniture? I am also curious about how to do the stencils and where you find your awesome accessories. I love your blog.
