Ready for the new house tour part 2? I started with the basement a couple of days ago, and today I decided to go to the third floor and save the main floor for last (mostly because it was crawling with kids when I was taking pictures today!).
So, here we are at the bottom of the steep wooden staircase (you know, the one that Caleb has fallen down 3 times now and Allie slipped and fell so bad that she was bruised for weeks....yeah, that one).....
We're really missing our two sets of carpeted staircases going to the 3rd floor in our last house, but the past is the past I guess! And we're here now. At least our pictures are all back up ;D This is the hallway on the 3rd level looking down toward two of the boys' bedrooms and the school room...
And this is the same hallway looking from the other end, back toward the master bedroom....
And here are all my beloved pictures!!
The room just across the hall from our bedroom is shared by Jacob & Caleb (although Caleb still sleeps in a crib in our room for now). We kept the same cowboy theme that Jacob & Matthew had when they shared a room in Kansas.....
They have their own bathroom and plenty of space to play!
And back down at the other end of the hall is Josh's room. He finally scored his very own space and we keep telling him how lucky he is to be able to have his own room with 8 kids in our family! He decided to go with a western theme (that seems to be a "theme" around here!) ....
We picked up some great western items at Hobby Lobby when they were having a 50% off sale on that section (love that store!), and we found the bedding online.....
And since we were finishing the basement, we asked our builder to put a window seat in the space below his window- it just didn't work to try to do anything else with that space, and this turned out to be the perfect thing. The lid lifts, and he has lots of extra storage under the bench. The room itself is tiny, but we made it work!
Here's the door that leads to the Jack & Jill bath that he shares with Noah & Matthew.....
And I know I've already posted pictures of Matthew & Noah's room , but just in case you missed them, here it is again! We went with Pottery Barn Kids' Dr. Seuss theme in this room....
And we found some awesome Dr. Seuss quotes to put on the walls :D
Noah sleeps on the bottom, and Matthew sleeps on top with all of his Angry Birds ;D
And this is by the door.....
Next to the boys' rooms is the school/playroom....
This is where we spend a good chunk of our day, so we made it fun and colorful! We have a chalkboard wall, and a corkboard wall, plus lots of places to hang special artwork from ;D
I really need to do a post about our "typical" day, but that will have to wait! I'm just feeling good about getting more than one post up a week again!!!
These are the desks where Josh & Noah work. Matthew works on the round table with me (except for those days when we end up on the floor, or even on the table!)....
Here's the wall where we keep track of the fun stuff. I mainly use this for Jacob & Matthew, but Noah enjoys it as well ;D It's also where we have our Accountable Kids system for discipline and rewards (and I PROMISE a post is coming about that too!).....
And in the corner you see my chair....the boys are NOT allowed in my chair....unless they're on my lap ;D
Just some of the reminders we have in the room :D
I finally found something to hang on the windows. We've struggled so much with the cheap, cruddy blinds in this house, and I'm happy to have these roman shades in here instead!
This is the view out of our playroom window! It's been fun to watch the guys working on the pool as we've been working on our school work....even if it was slightly distracting!
And back down to the other end of the hall once more (I got a little out of order!)....here's the master!
Much, much smaller than our last bedroom, and it has no fireplace, but it works! It has a VERY odd shape to it, and that was quite a challenge for me. I ended up with no mirror above my dresser so that we could put the t.v. there instead since we couldn't fit an armoire to hold our t.v.
Once Caleb starts sleeping in a big bed, and unless we don't end up with another one on the way(!), we will take the crib out and add a second chair in it's place to make a nice sitting area ;D
Beside our bed, I have all the kids' baptism pictures up!
We have the same great view of the yard as in the playroom, and I love all the trees I can see out our window! Here's the view from the window looking back into the bedroom and toward the hallway and our bathroom......
And the final shot.....
I know I did my bathroom already too, but I wanted to add it in quickly in case you missed it!
I'm not a fan of the big glass shower doors, but I did manage to conceal a section of them with a long velvet curtain......
We plan to antique the cabinets when we get a chance. I really don't like the stain color on our cabinets and can't wait to get them painted an antique cream color!
And finally.....proof that the house is complete......my closet!!!
aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....
ooooooooooooooooooo.....
YAY! The closet was SO hanging over my head, and I am overjoyed to have it done! Because it is SO huge, it ended up being a space for everything.......photo & video storage, old things from my childhood storage, extra kids' clothes storage, art project storage......
Etc! And we even fit all the kids' clothing storage tubs in across the back end of the closet, with room to spare!
Here's hubby's side looking back toward the bathroom. We each have identical "sides" and tons of space.....
And on top of one of the shelves on hubby's side sits all the kids' baby storage boxes full of keepsakes from their first months of life! We are very blessed to have all this great storage, even if we've had to give some space up in other areas :D
Hope you enjoyed the 3rd floor.....last stop will be the main level!

love it! did the magnetic wall not work out?
Your house looks stunning. I love every room. Enjoy
Nope- the magnetic wall was a flop- wouldn't recommend it! We ended up covering ours with the cork instead!
I loved the hint about "another one on the way".....care to spill the beans about anything?? :)
I am JEALOUS... ENJOY..
Nope Erin! Not pregnant....but as I'm reaching the end of my child-bearing years, I must admit, I would REALLY love another precious baby! Hubby & I are trying, but I am happy to let God make the final call ;D

I've been reading your blog for a while, but this is my first comment. Just wanted to say that I love your honesty and realness on this blog-so down to earth!
Love your new place.
Hey Jenny!
I'm getting ready to make our school room...can't decide between our formal dining room (that we never use) or our basement play room. Play room would be nice because it's out of the way and my husband who sleeps during the day wouldn't be able to hear us. Dining room would be GREAT because it's on the main floor and still in center of activity so I can deal with baby or dinner or whatever! Do you have any tips about creating a school room from your trial and error? What you thought would work but didn't, or maybe what you wish you had but don't?
