Last week, the kids decided to make bird feeders using pinecones, peanut butter and bird seed. They labeled them with their names and hung their creations out in the woods behind our house.....
Within just a couple of days, the birds had eaten all of the birdseed.....
And in the case of Noah's feeder, they had actually demolished the majority of the pinecone!
We decided that feeding the birds was lots of fun, but we probably needed a better feeder ;D So we picked up a plastic feeder at Target and Sophie hung it out in the trees....
We're looking forward to finding out what kinds of birds live in our area and checking our feeder to see when we get to fill it again! What a fun thing to do!!

So interesting!! I've lived growing up with bird feeders everywhere...my yard, friends yards, my cabin. So interesting to see that depending where you live I guess you aren't use to certain things? haha. We also always make bird houses (out of empty milk cartons, empty bottles, wood or other random recycled objects). At my cabin we even get to feed chipmunks out of our hands, they are so use to us! Have fun!
Hi Jenny,
Our family loves to feed the birds as well. So glad that you are finally getting settled in Georgia and feeling better! Please update on Allie's surgery when you can. Hope her surgery was the cure. Thanks! Kim
I love to feed the birds, too. More than likely your birds had some help from some squirrels eating the entire pine cone. Regardless, it's so much fun to see which birds come to the feeders. Enjoy your new home in Atlanta. There's SO much to see and do. We just took our two year old granddaughter to Fernbank Museum of Natural History--so much fun. Your younger ones would love it--maybe the older ones as well.
What a fun family thing to do. I love how you have the woods behind your home. My boys would have loved that when they were little (and probably even now, lol!)
We recently bought the seed packs & were shocked at how the birds found it & DEMOLISHED it in 2 days. It was crazy. We want to refill it this weekend again, since they are so hungry.
It was truly amazing how quickly those two blocks were consumed.
this is has nothing to do with your post, but would you mind sharing this video? it's about a man in Uganda who for the last 26 years has been abducting children, and making them go out and kill and abduct other children. this is the year it is going to stop, but we need to spread the word. it's been going around Facebook, and i thought this would be another awesome place to share it. if you don't want to, i totally understand but thought i would ask as your blog reaches out to so many.
