State of Affairs

It's been a rather exciting morning around here.... to top off a rather exciting, last full week before school starts!

We began today with an accident. I had just stepped out of the shower when I heard the commotion and went down to find this....

The black on Jacob's finger is a burn mark that he received when he stuck a paper clip in a light socket.....

Nice.

Needless to say, the boys learned a lesson. And I got the job of prying the metal out of the socket..... and boy was it jammed in there!

Miss Emily is back on her favorite couch....

.....after foot surgery number four for her hammer toes! Luckily, this time it was only ONE toe, but the doc sawed down some of the bone and then fused it instead of using pins like in previous surgeries, so it was pretty painful. She is recovering well, and though she won't be able to drive when school starts up next week, she will be able to go back on the first day!

As for me, I have a new hat.....

I love it (thanks mom!), but Allie doesn't think it suits me....or my personality.....or maybe my lack of personality! I love the big 'ol cross on the side though, so I may wear it again someday....when the pain of Allie's critique subsides ;-)

The boys have been busy making art for me....

Sophie has been busy making cake pops...

And Emily has been busy enjoying them :D

Allie's bed is unmade....I suppose it might be more newsworthy if it were MADE ;-)

The playroom has been picked up 3x today.....

And with THIS ONE on his way out.....

I'm sure it's in need of a cleaning once more!

It's pouring down rain right now and we've had thunderstorms all morning.....

But Caleb is finding ways to entertain himself!

While the boys are painting in the garage....

I'm on my way to the doctor with Sophie in about an hour. She's having some shoulder pain that she's been dealing with for several years now. The doctor is concerned about it being arthritis, and since her great-grandfather died of rheumatoid arthritis, we don't want to take it too lightly!

Allie is still recovering well from her surgery. She is currently working on pictures that she took at several different photo shoots over the last week, and you can check them out on her new website!

I remember when I used to say as long as I have healthy kids, I don't need anything else.........

HA!!!!

It blows my mind all the medical issues that have come up over the last 3 years with my kids, & I can't believe how comfortable I am these days when one of them has to have surgery!

I was thrilled this week to learn that Rick Perry is for sure getting in the presidential race! YAY! And after watching the republican debate last night, I think it's not a minute too soon :/

On another note.... I think next week I will do a full week of posts about a day in my life.......

or maybe I should spare everyone the details ;-)

Have a wonderful weekend ;D
