Well, she did it! My first-born graduated from high school!!! It was a whirlwind weekend of celebrations and awards, but we survived :D My mom was the photographer for the entire time, and she got so many great pictures- I'm just sorry there's no way to post them ALL to my blog ;-) Since there ARE so many, I'm going to start with Friday's events and then I'll do some more of the festivities later in the week.
Friday was "class day" at Allie's school. It was basically a dress rehearsal for the kids, as well as an informal award celebration highlighting things that weren't in the actual graduation ceremony. It all started out in the school courtyard where the junior class lined the walkway for the graduating seniors to walk through....

This is a brand new school and this is it's first graduating class, so they are trying to start lots of new traditions- the processional was a great way to kick it off!!!

The ceremony was held in the gym, and the set-up was amazing! There was a big screen where the audience could watch the processional streaming live...

I ended up in the audience with 4 of the boys while my mom was taking pictures. My husband was at the airport picking up my dad.....

After the 5 millionth time getting up, I began to regret the dress I wore ;-)

Emily was across the gym from me watching with the rest of the Junior class- they were all invited to watch class day so they can begin to prepare for
their own graduation!!
(Yes, I'll be doing this again next year!!)

One of the other traditions they started was the banging on the drum by each of the seniors- here's Allie...

Since this is the first year for the school, and all the seniors actually CHOSE to come over to the school from their original schools, the graduating class was very small (about 85 in all).....

Allie fighting back the tears-
just kidding! Although she did tell me she got teary-eyed when her favorite teacher spoke ;-)

At the end of the program, they showed each one of the seniors up on the screen....

That was very cool! The whole thing lasted about 1.5 hrs, but it was worth it! Afterwards, we headed down to get some pictures....

Allie and one of her very best friends, Courtney!
And the next is of the girls and their most favorite teacher.....

The girls spent their lunch periods in with Mrs. Brewer- they LOVE her!!

Emily and a couple of her friends! The teenage girls always love our little ones :D

Miss Allie!

A proud mama and her first-born ;-)

Stay tuned for pictures of Allie's grad party and the actual graduation.....
and even a special surprise I tweeted about last week ;-)

Looks like it was a nice ceremony! 85 doesn't seem that small to me for a class...I went to a private Christian school and my graduating class was 40- the largest the school had so far at that time! :)
soo cool! i still have 1.5 weeks of my senior year left...ready to be done with all the test, finals, and big projects! and my graduating class is just about 500 students ;). do the ropes she's wearing mean she graduated with honors or something? also just wanted to comment about your tweets of the storms-praying for you all! i live 5 min. away from the tornado that hit minneapolis, and actually saw it go by while i was volunteering and rocking a baby in the NICU at a nearby hospital. could NOT believe it!! these storms are devastating all over!
