How did we get here?!

Look closely at these two girls and try to guess what they're holding......

It's hard to believe at ages 16 and 14 that they would both be holding DRIVER'S LICENSES!!!!! And yet.... they are! Emily now has her real-live, honest-to-goodness, actual, unrestricted driver's license, and Sophie just got her learner's permit.....at age 14!!! GO FIGURE!!! And all that on the same day no less ;-) And I'm left here saying to myself, what happened to my babies?! And Allie, who's had her driver's license for about a year now, informed me last night that she won't have a problem leaving home and going away to wherever!!!!! Merry Christmas MOM!!! I'm sorry, but after all the time and energy I've invested into these children, I don't think they should be allowed to grow up and move on!!!!!!! NOPE! Out of the question! And you can tell just how strongly I feel as I keep using my BOLD face ;-)

Obviously, I'm joking about not letting the girls grow up, but I must admit, it's not easy! Is there anyone else out there with teens who are almost grown? And how do you cope? I was talking to a lady whose son is in the Navy- she only sees him once a year!!! Gee, that doesn't sound like a very good deal. And I wonder, how will my kids cope with being away from family? I mean, we're a very tight-knit family, and the kids have pretty strong bonds- not to mention that it's a little different when you have such a large family (at least in my mind!). So, how do they just leave it all behind? I would love to hear from other big families about what happened when their older kids hit age 18! And is there anyone else out there with 3 TEENAGE DRIVERS?!?!

They are not my kids but they are my brothers 16 and 14. I am old to remember changing diapers, babysitting them. They were five and 7 when I got married. my husband and I found pictures of them the other day and cant believe how small they were when we first got together. they are very much like my own. Now we live a 1000 miles away. I miss them like crazy. I cant imagine what it will be like when my boys are there age.

Wow, in our state you have to be 15. I would have two drivers but our youngest isn't driving yet. Plus, my oldest is 21.

He hasn't moved out yet and I can't imagine, but I think that you get more adjusted as they get older.

Between school and work and church commitments, he really isn't home very much. I'm just glad that they don't grow up overnight, although it seemed like he did!
