So much for Sunday...

Well, we worked hard yesterday in hopes that we could relax and spend the day at the pool today, but it didn't happen that way! Instead, Zack spent the day hospital hopping and I tried to hold-down-the-fort at home! It all started yesterday when Matthew was running around outside without shoes on. We have a huge tree in our backyard that provides great shade, but it also drops thorns on the ground- yucky thorns that have even been known to go through some of our shoes!! Zack is always telling the kids to wear their shoes, but you just know that there's always gonna be one that doesn't listen......this time it was Matthew!! He ran around barefoot and stepped on a thorn and into his foot it went. Zack tried and tried to get it out last night, but we finally decided that it needed to be done by a professional, so Zack took him to urgent care when it opened this morning. The doctors over there weren't about to touch it without an x-ray, so off to the emergency room they went. It turned out that he had a huge piece stuck in his foot about half-an-inch long! The ER doc had to numb it up and then take a scalpal and dig it out by cutting triangular sections out of his foot- ewwww! But Matthew handled it all like a champ, and didn't even cry- just whimpered a little! He ended up with a big bandage, 5 days of antibiotics, and a follow-up appt in one week. We also have to keep his foot out of the water for the next three days- no pool for us! Here's our trouble-maker's big boo-boo... Don't feel too bad for him, he's still his happy-ol'-self!!!
And he's much more concerned about showing me the food in his mouth than the cut on his foot!!
Sorry for the visual!!! Yes, that IS American cheese....!!

PS, honestly, did you think it would be a thorn that got him to the ER the first time??? LOL!

Great point Robin! And it WAS his first trip to the ER- that's pretty funny when you know Matthew!
