Potty Training!

Matthew is potty-training whether I'm ready or not!!! He's been showing lots of interest over the last several weeks, but I just kept thinking "he's too young." My other 2 boys were 3 before we even started, and then it was a fairly long process. Matthew just hit 2.5 years last month, so I figured we still had some time. I kept letting him use the toilet when he wanted, but didn't force the issue. I've been dreading the whole thing because I've had some "issues" in the past, and it hasn't always gone well!! Anyway, for the last few days, Matthew has been tearing off his diaper whenever he needs to go to the bathroom and has even had a dry diaper after naps! I finally put him in underwear and he has had minimal accidents and goes to the toilet on his own- no reminders from me! I don't have to do anything but hand out the treats! He's definitely motivated by candy, and has had so much sugar this week that I should probably be charged with child abuse, but whatever works, right!?!
I've joked that he's like a dog because he saves a little so he can go again and again- sometimes 5x in a row- and get more treats! I was really impressed yesterday because he has had some kind of virus and still made it to the bathroom with the diarhea! All I can say is "thank you God!!!!"
